Creditors

The Cronfel Firm can help you collect debts in an efficient and cost effective manner, whether litigation is required or not.

Debtors

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act requires that debt collectors treat you fairly and also prohibits certain methods of debt collection.  If you believe that a debt collector has violated the law in their attempts to collect a debt from you, you may have the right to sue the collector for violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  If you prevail in your action against the collector, you may be able to recover money for damages suffered as a result of the collector’s actions, plus additional statutory amounts as well as attorney’s fees and court costs incurred in pursuing your claim.

Of course, the law does not necessarily erase legitimate debts owed by consumers, be they individuals or business entities.  However, there are fair and legitimate ways for companies and other businesses to go about the collection of outstanding debts.
